In 2016, Dan Mecklen wanted to go mountain biking with his family in New Zealand, but the youngest of the three children was only three years old and thus too small to ride his own bike. However, no child seat could be mounted on the parents' fullys either. Together with Tom Hayward, who also likes to spend his free time on his MTB, Mecklen then developed a child seat that was also compatible with fullys.

Instead of mounting the child's seat behind the rider, a Shotgun seat is mounted on or above the top tube. This works on almost any bike, but especially on mountain bikes and fully-suspended bikes. A small handlebar can be attached to the handlebars, and that's where the kids have to hold on. For the feet there are footrests, that's it. Now your child can join you on your trail adventures .
Uphill with the help of a towing rope
Many children whose parents like mountain biking quickly make their first progress on their own bike. They then naturally want to "come along" on their kids' bike when a day on the trail on. And then ... they do run out of breath. In this case, either the whole family has to head home, or you use one of Shotgun's tow ropes. With the help of loops, the handlebars of the child's bike and the saddle of the parent's bike are connected, and you can give your child a jump start on the climb or pull them along when they're tired. The rope's material is elastic and shock-absorbing so it will not jerk the child's bike forward and cause the child to fall.

The rope is tested up to a weight of 225kg, so you can attach not only young trail riders, but also bigger kids and help them over nasty climbs. By the way, it's not only helpful during full day adventures, on the way to kindergarten, appointments, shopping or other everyday trips, a tow rope is a real help for tired kids, too!
