In 1925, Willy Müller and August Busch founded a company that manufactured reflectors. After all, reflectors had just become mandatory equipment for every bicycle by law. But of course B+M didn't stop there, bit by bit bicycle lamps and bicycle mirrors were developed and added to the product catalog.

The company from Meinerzhagen, Germany, sometimes referred to affectionately as” BUMM”, does not like to let go of any step of the production. Not only are all products designed and produced on the company's own 14,000 square meter premises, all the machines needed for production are self-designed and built, as well. This means that not only the working conditions and the quality of the products can be monitored, it also guarantees the supply chain. Today, B&M holds a large number of patents for bike accessories and is considered one of the world's top producers when it comes to high-quality bicycle lights.

From the very beginning, lamps and reflectors were the brand's core business, and that hasn't changed to this day. Today, Busch + Müller produces not only LED tail lights and headlights for bikes, but also high-quality dynamos and lighting systems for e-bikes. The latter in particular have been hugely successful in recent years thanks to the boom in e-bikes. Since the power supply doesn’t present a problem – the bicycle lamps are simply wired to the battery of the e-bike – these lighting systems induced technologies that until recently no one would have expected to find on a bicycle!

Busch + Müller can claim numerous innovations and patents over the course of the company's history. These include, in addition to a stop light, close-range illumination, that provides a good light directly in front of your front wheel, but can still be seen from a distance and also provides you with good long-distance visibility. Sensors that register light and movement regulate the change from daytime light to nighttime lights or cause the lamps to light up automatically when the bike starts moving. One of the latest achievements is the Leval cornering light. Busch& Müller’s cornering light is not strictly speaking a “lamp”, it’s rather a mount that a bicycle headlight is attached to and moves it as soon as the bike goes around a bend in order to redirect the light beam in the direction the bike is going.

E-bike headlights can offer up to 300 lux, dynamo lamps have up to 100 lux and even battery-powered bicycle lamps can meet the legal requirements with 170 to 30 lux (depending on the model).
